After concluding their residency in the Menagerie in July with Submerse, Ecker returns with another belter of a lineup, a new venue and new soundsystem.

McHughs basement is the new venue and guests on the night will be two of San Francisco’s finest in the shape of Kid Kameleon and Tinker.

Kid Kameleon is DJ, promoter, writer, blogger, historian, archivist, and fan of electronic music. He’s been that way for 15 years. He’s from North Carolina, but ended up in New York in the late ’90s and early ’00s. He moved to the Bay Area in 2004, and currently lives in San Francisco. His performances are wild, eclectic, flamboyant, humorous, energetic and passionate, and he is a true believer in the DJ’s unique ability to be a curator and narrator. A prolific mixer, writer and journalist, he keeps one ear tuned to the new and cutting edge and the other to the glories of the past. He spins heads and feet the physical and digital world over.

Tinker is the resident laptop mistress of the long-standing and well-respected San Francisco arts collective False Profit. She has directed the chill stage at False Profit’s annual campout Priceless, curated a stage at Yuri’s Night Bay Area @ NASA Ames (for which she was also a founding creative visionary), and has thrown numerous other legendary underground parties in the Bay and beyond. Performing everywhere from the esteemed Yerba Buena Center for the Arts and the Cal Academy of Sciences to dark and dank basement clubs in Berlin, she has shared the stage with the Glitch Mob, Tom Burbank, Deru, Eliot Lipp, Dr. Toast, Random Rab, EPROM, Kid Kameleon, Lazer Sword, David Last, and more. She is a fast-blossoming producer in her own right, creating tunes that are getting noticed within the fertile west coast music scene. Be sure to catch this mischief-maker put smiles on faces and wiggles in the hips of her listeners.

So....our next gig will be the 11th June. It will be the first residents night in a while and will mean alot of new stuff to drop.

After that we have Submerse playing for us. He has been on all our radars for a while now and we had to get him over as part of the Trans lineup.

Submerse has done a recent mix for Big Up magazine which is a great taste of what the man does. He also does a weekly show on SubFM you can check out a December show here

T-Polar on Juno

Veteran Belfast based producer Gary Spence aka T.Polar has released a
wide range of work on a variety of labels over the past decade. From
the microhouse stylings of his debut album on Morris Audio, and 12" on
Karloff, to the bass heavy rollers on Digital Distortions and Wide
Recordings, a series of e.p.s for Nice&Nasty, more experimental fare
on Acroplane, and a forthcoming release on London future garage label
l2s, Spence has delivered a musical world full of depth, detail,
rhythmic invention, and tripped out wonder.

War Stories For Boys kicks off the EP with skittering, raw breaks, and
snatches of vocals from a range of unidentifiable sources, before
dropping an incessant bass riff reminiscent of the uk bass and
neo-electro styles of Rotters Golf Club releases.

Hardline Khan D takes a similar approach only with a funkier, cheekier
vibe, making more of vocal hooks, whilst Theme From Hoolohaan rocks a
synchopated shuffle, with distant crooning vocals, and subtle bass
emissions dropping in to keep things rolling.

Things get taken deep into the ether with the final track,
Poindexter(the hunter). Swirling high end synth patterns subside to
drop a loping, lowslung groove, augmented by a bassline that points
you towards the otherworldly.

Spence made his debut remixing therarelowry on Takeover's second 12"
back in 2002. He currently promotes Belfast's premier Bass Music
night, Ecker.

We are back on Friday with our first friday slots (FFS) at the Menagerie. Looking forward to this one as it has been a while since we had the whole night to ourselves. We should have some announcements about future guests and will be a mini warm up for anyone headed across to bloc next week.

Check this album out by ID and Baobinga. If you have been down to ecker in the past few months you probably would have heard a few of their tracks. Anwyay this isn't technically a free album but is has an option to add a donation of whatever you like. All donations are going to charity i think so it is well worth donating something. The music itself is absolutely class. i'll be playing a few of these on Friday i'd reckon.

Just stumbled across this blog while looking through the Future Garage Forum. Its from a guy called Duncan Powell who has hosted alot of free music of his own. I have downloaded 3 or 4 tunes and the quality is great with lots of skippy garage number and 4x4 stuff. Its a pretty interesting idea and when the music is as good as it is, its definitely worth checking out.

Thanks to all who came down and had fun at our birthday on Friday night. It was great to celebrate with you all. Special thanks to Dee who really got into his role as MC! There are a few photos up, which make us all look very serious and superstar like, especially this one.

Our next one is the 12th of December with Nez and Boxcutter. It should be a great one. We are all on a strict regime of 6am jogs and hi-carb diets. Shall be bloodied noses a plenty!

Yep! We have reached the grand old age of 2. We are nearly toilet trained, able to run around and repeat the same words over and over again.

The birthday will be on the 20th of November at the Menagerie. We have kept it to a residents night as the last one we did in August was great fun for all of us. Its a measly 3 quid before 10.30 and an equally measly £5 after.
